 PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT the Board of Trustees of the Village of Nassau, Rensselaer County, New York will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. at the Village Municipal Building, 40 Malden Street, Nassau, New York in reference to:

 Proposed 2021-22 Village Budget

The proposed budget will be presented.  Due to COVID restrictions seating is limited to 9 individuals at hearing. Written comments may also be submitted in advance to clerk@villageofnassau.org. Written comments will be accepted through noon on April 13, 2021.

A local law authorizing a property tax levy in excess of the limit established in General Municipal Law §3-c

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – Community Development Block Grant

VILLAGE OF NASSAU

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Village of Nassau will hold a public hearing on April 5, 2021 at 7:15pm at the Village Offices, for the purpose of hearing public comments on the Village of Nassau’s community development needs, and to discuss the possible submission of one or more Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications for the 2021 program year.

The CDBG program is administered by the New York State Office of Community Renewal (OCR), and will make funding available to eligible local governments for the 2021 program year for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefiting low/ moderate income persons. At this time the Village is applying for funding to upgrade the water main and services on Chatham Street between Fairgrounds Street and Rt. 20.  Also, the Village is applying for funding to replace or install sidewalks on John Street, Fairgrounds Street, Kaunameek Street and Chatham Street.  The CDBG program and will allow for citizen participation in the development of any proposed grant applications and/or to provide technical assistance to develop alternate proposals. Comments on the CDBG program or proposed project(s) will be received at this time. The hearing is being conducted pursuant to Section 570.486, Subpart I of the CFR and in compliance with the requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.

Assistance under the Community Development Block Grant Program must meet one of three national objectives: benefit to low and moderate-income persons, elimination of slums and blight or urgent needs affecting the health and safety of the community. No less than seventy percent (70%) of grant funds must be used for activities benefiting low and moderate-income persons and the benefit area must contain at least fifty-one percent (51%) low and moderate income residents.

All interested residents including minority, women, disabled and disadvantaged persons are strongly encouraged to attend this public hearing. Due to COVID-19 Social Distancing Rules, space is limited.  Residents planning to attend this hearing in person should contact the Village Clerk, Melissa Turner-Bulan at the Village Offices, 40 Malden Street, Nassau, New York 12123 or 518-766-3044 by Friday April 2, 2021 to reserve a seat. The Village Offices are accessible to persons with disabilities. If special accommodations are needed for persons with disabilities, those with hearing impairments, or those in need of translation from English, those individuals should contact the Village Clerk, Melissa Turner-Bulan at the Village Offices, 40 Malden Street, Nassau, New York 12123 or 518-766-3044, at least one week in advance of the hearing date to allow for necessary arrangements. The Nassau Hose Company will be tapping fire hydrants on John Street, Chatham Street and Fairgrounds Street as part of a training drill.

A portion of Fairgrounds Street will be congested with fire apparatus but traffic will be able access.
